Hourly Volunteer Opportunities:

For Crosby Scholars and those of you looking to complete fewer than 40 service hours, this is a service project list for you!

  • BAKE A DESSERT OR SNACK

Bake brownies, cookies, cupcakes, or muffins. Assemble bags of trail mix. Package these items into individual portions (one brownie, 2-4 cookies per bag). Items may not be store bought. Store bought items are in-kind donations.Hour Value: 1 dozen = 1 hour

  • ASSEMBLE CAREGIVER BAGS

Gather items (such as lotions, puzzle books, personal care items, or notepads) and assemble in care bags to give to guests at check-in.Hour Value: 10 bags = 1 hour

  • STOCK THE FREEZER

Make a chili, soup, or bread. When there is not a meal scheduled, the Family House can pull it out for families to eat! Please make only the recipes found here! Hour Value: 1 item = 2 hours

  • SERVE A MEAL

A great way for a group to be involved with the Family House is to prepare dinner (or a morning breakfast) in our beautiful kitchen! Your group will leave knowing that your home cooking, as one guest put it, “warmed the bellies and the hearts” of the families.

  • GROUP OPPORTUNITY: BAKE GRANDMA LEE’S FAMILY HOUSE GINGER COOKIE

This is good for a group of about 5-6 people. We have all the ingredients here to make these ginger cookies. It takes about an hour per batch to make fresh, delicious cookies for families and to give out to donors and friends. Hour Value: 2 hours

  • GROUP OPPORTUNITY: FORM A CLEAN TEAM

With a group of 4-8, you may sign up for a day to help deep clean areas of the Family House. This may include sweeping, dusting, laundry, etc. Hour Value: 2-3 hours

  • CONTRIBUTE TO A POTLUCK DINNER

If you cannot organize a meal for the entire house, Merry Meals are a great way to contribute to a dinner by bringing a portion of the meal.Hour Value: 1 dish = 2 hours

  • MAKE WELCOME CARDS

Create 3″x5″ or 5″x7″ Welcome Cards to place to guest beds.  Message examples include a simple “Welcome,” or “Wishing You the Best,” or “Thinking of You”. No envelopes please. Hour Value: 1 dozen = 1 hour

  • MAKE A CRAFT OF CHOICE

Crafts may include items to hang on each guestroom door; table centerpieces; seasonal décor; fleece blankets; or your specialty! Hour Value: Hours may vary
