Do you really have to do it all?

What comes to mind when you think about the Holiday season? Colder weather, holiday decorations, friends & family, large meals? If pressure and stress also pop into your mind, you are NOT alone! The holiday season can be difficult for anyone but it is sometimes especially difficult for caregivers so I’ve compiled a list to help you release some of that tension, pressure, and stress.

No, you don’t have to put up all, or any, Christmas decorations.

Yes, you can have a potluck for Christmas lunch or dinner.

No, your entire house doesn’t have to be spotless or clean.

Yes, you can pick up a pie or cake from the deli or grocery store.

No, you don’t have to feel happy or unhappy.

Yes, you can rest and relax.

No, you don’t have to send a personalized card to everyone you know.

Yes, you can send a free e-card instead.

Yes, you can (and should) take time for yourself.

Yes, you can tell people what would be most helpful or beneficial for you.

What do you want to add to the list?

At the end of the day, do what makes you feel happy, safe, and rested. The holiday season is about you too!
