COVID-19: Ways You Can Help

United

Things look a little different at the Family House! For the health and safety of our families we have suspended our Meal Volunteer program until the threat of COVID-19 passes.

We are committed to having food available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and we need your help.  Having food available in the house will help guests avoid having to go to grocery stores and restaurants where the risk of exposure is heightened. At a time when our patients and caregivers may be feeling even more isolated, and perhaps homesick, it’s a great time to show them the love of our community.

Here is how you can help provide families in medical crisis with a meal that keeps them strong, warms their hearts, and calms their nerves.

Here is how you can help:

  • Donate money towards a meal
  • Donate e-gift cards: Lowe’s Food, Food Lion, Publix, Walmart/Sam’s Club, Domino’s Pizza, Burke Street Pizza, Elizabeth’s Pizza, Zitos
  • Provide a catered meal for 25 people. Use this online calendar to sign up. Until further notice, all meals need to be catered and delivered by local restaurants. Meals may not be made at home or at the Family House. Dinners need to be individually packaged and delivered to the Family House by 5:15pm. A number of local restaurants have these options. Here are a few restaurants who have supported the Family House in the past and who are familiar with us.
    • Salem Kitchen – (336) 722-1155
    • Olive Garden– 336.765.9008
    • Elizabeth’s Pizza – (336) 768-0605
    • Chick-fil-A– 336.765.0713
    • PDQ– 336.306.5174
  • Donate supplies. Top items include liquid dish detergent, napkins, and snack items.

Crosby scholars and students:

Students may continue to help by making baked goods, breads, muffins, or trail mixes for us. Caregiver bags are also welcome. Please individually wrap everything. Items can be dropped off in the grocery cart located between our two sliding glass doors. We’re happy to sign their forms digitally! Email them to lisa.northrop@familyhousews.org.

Thank you! Because of you, families can continue to stay in a comfortable, affordable place during their medical crisis even when one more crisis is added to their stress. We will get through this together!
