Pandemic: 2020 How it Started vs. 2021 How it's Going

Covid-19

2020 – How It Started

Occupancy falls from 89% to 38%. Creates initial income loss of $99,000.

Visitor restrictions, hospital scheduling, and social distancing measures are affecting occupancy. Low numbers and guest income loss expected to slowly improve.

Covid-19

2021 – How It’s Going

Occupancy rebounds to 70%. Income loss totaled $155,000.

Families are more comfortable traveling for medical treatment and hospitals have resumed elective care and allowing some patient visitations. Families report feeling appreciative of the safety measures the house has in place for them.

Men Who Cook Cancelled

The 2019 event raised $140,000. Grateful to lead sponsor Wake Forest Baptist Health and other sponsors and ticket buyers for donating their admissions to the Family House.

Men Who Cook Reimagined is ON!

Lead sponsor Wake Forest Baptist Health is back to bring you a unique opportunity to bid on your own personalized dining experience! Whether it be an outdoor barbeque for thirty friends, an intimate in-home three course meal, or a casual picnic and wine pairing at a local winery, there will be an option for everyone. Other ways to participate include tipping your favorite chef or purchasing other meal-themed items. Free registration is now open.

Meal Program is a Big Need

Dinners can only be catered and dropped off. Meals are a significant part of our services, but also very costly. Donations appreciated.

Meal Program Thriving

Dinners are covered through March. You rock! Meal volunteers prepare meals off site and drop off. Then a volunteer kitchen host helps plate the meal for guests. While we were worried that taking meals in rooms would be detrimental to guests, our volunteers are sharing that interaction and conversation is still happening and easing stress levels.

Volunteering is Limited

Volunteers are love in motion, but in-house service is on hold to limit the number of people in the house. Some off-site volunteering is available.

Volunteering is BACK!

Volunteers have adapted brilliantly to fit the circumstances. Every Monday volunteers drop off dozens of Welcome Bags, snack bags, and breakfast bags, to the delight of our guests. A few in-house opportunities are available as well!

Wish List Donations Appreciated

Wish list items include individually wrapped breakfast and snack items, paper products, hand soap, and hand sanitizer.

Wish List Donations [Are Still] Appreciated
