Hat’s Off!
Men Who Cook a Big Success
A new version of Men Who Cook landed on the front burner and you made it a huge success – raising $85,000! While being together in a big crowd for a joyous evening wasn’t part of the recipe this year, you warmed our hearts by enthusiastically participating in support of our families.
Eager participants spent the month bidding for an experience, tipping their favorite chefs, sponsoring the event, bringing home a savory extra, telling a friend about it, or all of the above, and will provide families in medical crisis far from home with a comfortable, affordable place to stay.
Auction winners not only have an amazing meal to look forward to, but many of them will be combining them with special events.
One mother, for example, bought the Chef Bacon and Manor House at Tanglewood overnight stay for her son who enjoys culinary experiences and his girlfriend to celebrate their next chapter in life.
On the other hand, two winners purchased their experiences as retirement celebrations for their husbands.
Congratulations to the Chef’s Hat Winners for most tip donations collected: John Millican of Salem Group & David Barksdale of Piedmont Federal Savings Bank
The SECU Family House, and it’s fabulous staff, set the benchmark for compassionate care for our neighbors enduring tough times. Numerous families traveling to Winston-Salem for medical treatment will enjoy the niceties and comforts of home because of your generosity. This is a cause that makes Winston-Salem a better place.
After 2020, we participants of Men Who Cook are just grateful for a chance to help out in any way we can. ~John and David

A final word of gratitude to all our community partners, including presenting sponsor Wake Forest Baptist Health. Their world class medical center draws patients and families from all over the country for specialized care. We are grateful for their support of this event so we can continue to care for these families from out of town.
