House Warming Shower
Our most anticipated September event, our House Warming Shower, was a huge hit! A couple hundred individuals spent a Tuesday morning and afternoon as some of the first individuals to tour the House before it opens. The support was unbelievable! Groups drove right up to the front doors with their trunks filled to the top with items they collected themselves or through group drives, such as the SECU branches and the Forsyth Medical Center ladies pictured below.
By the end of the day the House had collected enough for each room to get hangers, a clothes hamper, some hand soap, and a box of Kleenex. Additionally, with the donated gift cards, we purchased colorful shower curtains for each shower. Now that’s a homey touch you can’t find in a hotel! The kitchen cabinets were overflowing with kitchen towels, pots and pans for families and volunteers to cook in, and enough Hot Chocolate packets for our families to stay warm all December!
A very special thank you to our House Warming Shower committee, and the following sponsors: Dewey’s Bakery, Salem Kitchen, 1703 Restaurant, Biscuitville, Vernon Produce, and L.A. Reynolds, for their generous involvement.
Take a look at photos from both events!

Though we are at the end of our Capital Campaign, this is only the beginning of what will hopefully be years of service! The Family House will continually need your help to keep operating and keep our guests comfortable and stress-free. Remember to take a look at our regularly updated Wish List for ways you can continue to contribute!
Preview Party for Naming Donors and Artists
Two short evenings later, SECU Family House hosted a Preview Party for its Naming Donors and Artists. At this event, Donors and Artists had the opportunity to view the rooms that they named through their generous donations, and artists could find their pieces located on one of the House walls. This event brought a mix of individuals, from 6 year-old artists to seasoned philanthropists, together to share a moment that they helped to create.
A very special thank you to our event planning committee, and the following refreshment sponsors: Cabot Cheese, Whole Foods Market, Red Oak Brewery, and Total Wine & More.
