Thank You Volunteers
We celebrated our volunteers this month, so many of our guests and former guests wrote them notes of appreciation.
Their words sum up perfectly how much of an impact our volunteers make!
“I had been at the hospital for over 15 hours. I was emotionally drained. I had planned to just go up to my room but a caring volunteer offered me to have dinner. She was so sweet how could I say no. I’m glad I stayed for dinner the food made by volunteers was delicious! The energy in the kitchen was perfect, not too much for my weary self. So much kindness was given to me and continues to be more than I could expect. Thank you for all you do. It really makes a huge difference for all that come in touch with the love you serve to myself and others.” ~Cheryl
“There is not enough ink in my pen or paper on this table to say how grateful and blessed I feel for you letting me stay here!”
“Thank you for working so hard to please everyone. You deserve so much love for what you do. Ya’ll cook breakfast and dinner for all of us and it’s so good. You made my weekend stay feel so welcome. Thank you!”
“God bless all you volunteers, check-in people, check-out people, washing towels and sheets, washing dishes, making beds putting up with us people. I’ve been in a lot of places in my life but never, never, never a place like this. God bless you everyone. God made you special so you could be special. He had to have added extra sprinkles to Mary and Pam. Thanks for all you do.”
“What you do each and every day to help is truly a blessing! Thank you so much”
“Thank you Family House volunteers for giving of yourselves to make our lives better! God Bless you!”
“Our family is so very grateful for the hospitality extended to us during this time in our lives. My husband was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma, and without a stem cell transplant, his particular cancer will most likely return in 2 years. Without your generosity, it would have been very difficult for us to proceed with this much needed procedure in order to help ensure a better outcome for his health. We are very grateful for all you…each and everyone of those who have made this possible.”
“All of the Family House volunteers are such a vital part of making us feel at home when we travel to Winston Salem for our loved ones’ appts.”
“I am ever so thankful to SECU Family House volunteers. They made our long stay there more bearable. From a kind word, a hug, a meal, or just a smile, they are a very integral part of the House. I appreciate each and everyone of them.”
“I really appreciated the volunteers during our time of need. The people who came in to offer a meal or help out in some way were always, always so kind to us & I will forever be eternally grateful for them. Extra love & kindness is so needed during these rough patches of life. I appreciate the Family House & its people more than you will ever know. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️❤️❤️”
“Precious volunteers, you make this journey we are on better with your love and care! Your smiles brighten the cloudy days and make the sunny times better! Thank you for ALL you do…especially the unseen things you do! May God richly bless you in ways you least expect!!!!”
“Family House volunteers are what makes this place so special. Yes, the rooms are comfortable, and the kitchen makes it so easy to get a nourishing meal, but the smile that greets you when you come in from a long day at the hospital, the warm conversation when you’re decompressing over a cup of coffee, and that hug when you need it is priceless. They are true heroes and have touched many many hearts.”
“Y’all made our stay so much better because of all the love kind words and support you gave us during a most difficult time in our lives. We are forever thankful for your kindness.”
“Thank you volunteers for letting me know, ‘You’re home now. Everything is going to be okay’. I loved how I received a handwritten note on my pillow that welcomed me into the house!”
