F. Borden Hanes Jr., Chair of SECU Family House’s Board of Advocates, was awarded The Order of the Long Leaf Pine on June 1, 2011. Established in 1965, The Order of the Long Leaf Pine is among the most prestigious awards presented to an individual who has a proven record of extraordinary service to the state of North Carolina. North Carolina Secretary of Commerce J. Keith Crisco, on behalf of Governor Bev Perdue, made the presentation at The Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA).
SECU Family House is extremely fortunate to have Borden’s support. He has served as Chair of our Board of Advocates since 2008 and is helping to steer our capital campaign to a successful conclusion. Borden generously shares his knowledge and experience with our organization.
Borden is Vice-Chairman of Bowen, Hanes & Company, Inc. in Winston-Salem, where he is involved in the formulation of investment strategy, portfolio management and business development. He is an active member of numerous local boards and is President- Elect of the SECCA Foundation. At the state level, Borden has volunteered his time and leadership to serve the Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts, the North Carolina Museum of Art, and the UNC National Development Council and Friends of the Library Board.
