Light Up the House
Each year, BB&T sends thousands of employees out into the community for their annual Lighthouse Projects. 2018 was no different, and the Family House hosted three wonderful departments. Check out everything they accomplished!

Caregiver Bags
“BB&T prides itself on being a pillar in the community. Through the Lighthouse project BB&T employees are able to reach out to different organizations within the community and volunteer. I and the other volunteers tremendously enjoyed creating the caregiver bags and our experience touring the SECU Family House. Personally, I did not know this type of service was provided for adult patients and their families vising the hospitals in Winston-Salem. We love the Great Work you and your organization are doing in the community! We look forward to working with the SECU Family House in the future!” ~ Tonya Moore
“[This service] allowed us to reflect upon ‘blessings’ of good health and come together as a group to do something that would have a positive impact on folks going through a difficult time.”
“I am very proud to be a part of something that really makes a difference in other people’s lives. Before, BB&T Lighthouse Project came up, I had no idea this place existed. It is a great place that helps a lot of people in need. I was amazed at all the things the SECU Family House does to help others.”

Pine nugget refresh + addition of outdoor pergola + breakfast + dinner
“Our BB&T Team had a fabulous time volunteering for the SECU Family House. One of our team members who had a prior experience volunteering at the Family House was impressed with the organization and had recommended it as a possible project. When we found out the Family House needed a new pergola in the outdoor seating area and some sprucing up, we jumped at the opportunity. Team members had a great time hauling mulch, laying stones, building the pergola, cooking dinner and breakfast casseroles.
It was a hot day to be outside working but we were all very fulfilled at the end of the day knowing that we were able to provide a comforting meal or perhaps a quiet place for reflection for the SECU Family House guests. Thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to serve your wonderful organization!” ~ Jane Kane
