During the past two weeks, Family House guests have been blown away by the support of 20 teen volunteers! These middle school and high school students participated in Teens in the House, the Family House’s annual service-learning experience that brings together teens from around the community.
Student volunteers made a big impact as they rolled up their sleeves to clean around the house, create welcome cards, chalk the walk with encouraging messages, assemble breakfast bags, and weed around the grounds. They took a deep dive into the operations of the Family House as they heard from staff members and learned about the important work that goes on behind the scenes in order for us to fulfill our mission. Students also heard from healthcare professionals and learned about important services in the community, and they enjoyed hands-on activities with community partners including visits from therapy dogs, art + wellness activities with the Sawtooth School for Visual Art, and a tour of the brand new Novant Health Community Care Cruiser.
We look forward to hosting our third group of Teens in the House participants July 25-28!
